Computing Support

ASSMS maintains a computer network and has its own connections (ISP) to the Internet as a service for all members of the ASSMS community: faculty, students, and staff. This service is provided for the whole community in 24x7 operations. There are around 30 computers available for M.Phil/Ph.D level students and around 25 computers available for other faculty.

Open-Access Computer Labs

In addition, ASSMS maintains a well equipped Math PC computer lab which is available to students during operating hours. All currently enrolled full-time and part-time students, full-time or part-time faculty, and staff are permitted to use the open-access computer facilities on a first-come, first-served basis or by prior arrangement with the staff. Open-access computer facilities are staffed by assistants for the convenience of our users. They are trained to assist users with questions and to help with hardware and software problems, but they are not permitted to do homework for other students. The assistants are authorized to enforce the rules related to access and use of computer facilities.

All the workstations in the Lab are Pentium 4 (3.0 GHz) which includes the Windows Operating System (Windows XP) and other productive software such as Open Office 2.2, Matlab 7.0, Maple 9.0, Cocoa, and LaTex with WinEdit 5.4, Mathematica, and other major mathematical packages.
